The growing region is east-central Italy, not the region of Tuscany where Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is produced mainly from Sangiovese. The grapes are hand-harvested, then a gentle pressing with maceration taking place in oak vats with hand punch downs. Then it is decanted into oak barrique’s and aged for 12 months, then transferred to stainless steel tanks with final refining done in the bottle. A deeply colored wine to the eye, rustic aromas in the nose of intense crushed black berry which is evident in the smooth flavors of the body of black berry, dark cherry, spice, pepper and hints of earth, balanced on a core of refined tannins for structure. There is a velvet viscosity on the tongue which continues into the long lasting finish. (Excellent). Allow the wine to rest for one hour before serving or aerate. Schiopetto Collio Friulano~2011~Italy~Club price $10.00:

The region of Friuli Venezia Giulia is in the north-east of Italy, bordering Austria to the north and Slovenia to the east and faces the Adriatic Sea to the south and west; it’s bordered by the Veneto region. Wine is produced from 100% Tocai Friulano grapes which were originally referred to as Sauvignon Vert. Characteristically aromatic; there are some who think that the original grape was known as Furmint, but early records state that Tocai was made from Sauvignonasse probably in the Vento region. Fermentation is done in stainless steel tanks and aging also takes place in stainless steel for 7 to 8 months. Wine is beautiful to the eye in the glass, with lemon-yellow color and greenish hints. Aromas are delicate scents of almonds, flowers and pear, the palate is not disappointed with flavors of pear, almond, Asian spice, and soft tropical fruits nicely rounded with a hint of minerality and viscosity on the tongue. CLASSIC SERIES $20 RED:

Sundance Columbia Red~2012~Washington~Club price $20.00:

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot sourced from the Vineyards of Charbonneau and Ciel du Cheval, and has been described as filling a new leather bag with a pound of black cherries. Characteristics are dark garnet color, rich robust flavors of currants, black berry, spice, vanilla and pepper, normal alcohol levels are around 13%, which makes the blend pleasant with or without food. (Wine trivia) In the Seventeenth century in southwestern France, an accidental breeding occurred between a red Cabernet Franc and a white Sauvignon Blanc and from that came the now popular varietal known as Cabernet Sauvignon, this theory was proven in 1996 by wine researchers at U.C.Davis. There is now over 650,000 acres planted in the world. Sundance Red is produced by my personally favorite winery Soos Creek in Walla-Walla Washington and they never disappoint me. Aroma profile has abundant scents of rich mature black cherry and boysenberry layered with hints of coffee, vanilla and pepper. Body consists of generous amounts of black berry, mocha, coffee, pepper, that are complex and intense balanced on subtle core of tannins along with viscosity on the palate. Finish is smooth and complex with layers of fruit that are abundant and long lasting. (Superior). Allow the wine to rest for one or more hours before serving or aerate. Appropriate food ~ charred burgers, marinated rib eye steak or braised short ribs. Best served ~ 62 to 66 degrees. Optimal age ~ Drink now and enjoy more over the next 3 to 5 years.

Wine producing region is the Cotes du Ventoux an appellation of south-eastern France; since 2009 it is called simply Ventoux and is located 25 miles north-east of Avignon. Here is where mount Ventoux “the giant of Provence” is located the vineyards are in a area of roughly 30 miles and include 51 parishes. Wine has been produced here since the 1st century AD; wines are very similar to Cotes du Rhone with many of the same varietals being used. Fondreche is a blend of Grenache Blanc 30%, Roussanne 30%, Clairette 30%, and Rolle 10%; you may not be familiar with the varietal Rolle, it is believed to have originally developed in Spain and is called Vermentino there and is planted throughout the Mediterranean region as well as other countries. Clairette is one of southern France’s oldest varietals, low in acidity with a flavor profile of fennel, apple, lime, apricot and peach. Roussanne is known for it’s “honey eyed richness and longevity” there is no record of where this grape originated, it may be native to the Rhone valley. Aromas in the nose of this Fondreche Blanc are aromatic and exciting with crisp citrus and minerality, the body has a good balance of sugar/acid, with flavors of green apple and lime on a medium structure of acidity. The finish is lush and full-bodied with an accent on stone fruits, long lasting and rich notes on the palate. (Excellent). Appropriate food ~ perfect with garlic prawns, chicken dishes or fish tacos.
